About Me
Isis Orejuela, LMFT, is a trauma informed, client-centered Latinx therapist. She offers a safe, nurturing, and non-judgemental environment for individuals and families navigating challenging transitions. Isis’ approach is characterized by warmth, empathy, and compassion aimed at supporting clients in creating self-care practices, recognizing their inherent strengths and value, and building healthy relationships. Isis integrates a range of therapeutic modalities inclusive of TF-CBT, and narrative therapy, with an integration of social justice/decolonizing practices to the therapeutic journey. These modalities enable exploration of thoughts, emotions, experiences and systems of oppression, empowering clients to develop and identify healthier coping strategies, harm reduction and build resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
Isis’ passion lies with supporting humans who struggle regulating their emotions, particularly those who might be considered highly emotionally reactive. She firmly believes that understanding and embracing one’s emotions is essential to creating a fulfilling life and cultivating loving, caring, connections with others.
Isis is a Marriage and Family Therapist and a graduate of Syracuse University, where she received her M.A. in Marriage and Family therapy, B.S in Human Development and Family Science and B.A. in Psychology. She also gained a Certificate of Advanced Studies in Trauma- Informed Practice. Isis worked as a therapist at the local Child Advocacy Center, McMahon Ryan, in Syracuse,NY where she worked with children, teens and their families following disclosures of sexual abuse. Additionally, Isis worked as an intern and then Staff Limited Permit holding therapist at Vera House, a non-profit that specializes in working with those impacted by sexual and relationship violence.
